Disaster recovery & data recovery

When something goes wrong, you'll have a plan, not a panic

Data loss disrupts business. Whether it's a failed server, a ransomware attack, a flooded office, or an accidentally deleted folder, the question isn't if something will go wrong. It's whether you're ready to recover quickly when it does.

DDSystems builds resilient disaster recovery and data recovery programs as part of our Cloud & Data Center Services. Local backups, replicated cloud copies, documented recovery procedures, and 24/7 monitoring, designed and maintained by our Maryland-based team. So when disaster strikes, you don't wonder what to do next.

Be ready for every kind

Disasters come in all shapes and sizes

Recovery isn't just about cyber attacks. A fire in your server closet can be just as devastating as a virus. We plan for them all.

Ransomware & Cyber Attacks

Encrypted files, exfiltrated data, compromised accounts. Our backups are immutable and offsite, so attackers can't lock you out of your own recovery.

Natural Disasters

Extreme weather, fire, flooding. Offsite cloud replication means a destroyed building doesn't mean destroyed data.

Hardware Failures

Server crashes, RAID failures, drive corruption, NAS outages. Fast recovery from a local backup, no shipping drives across the country.

File Corruption & Software Failures

Database corruption, failed migrations, software bugs, sync conflicts. We restore to a known-good point before the corruption started.

Human Error & Insider Threats

Accidentally deleted folders, overwritten files, departing employees. The most common cause of data loss and the easiest to recover from when you're prepared.

Power & Network Outages

Extended outages that disrupt operations. UPS coordination, failover planning, and continuity strategies so the lights stay on.

What you get

Recovery built for real-world business operations

Speed, security, and continuity, with the documentation to back it up.

Fast recovery times

Industry-leading RTOs (recovery time objectives) so business operations are back online in minutes or hours, not days.

Encryption & redundancy

Every backup is encrypted in transit and at rest. Local plus cloud copies ensure redundancy against single points of failure.

Business continuity

Failover infrastructure and documented procedures keep core systems available even during recovery operations.

24/7 monitoring

Round-the-clock backup verification, alert response, and incident escalation. Issues caught before they become outages.

Methodology

The 3-2-1 backup rule, properly implemented

The industry-standard backup methodology is simple to describe and hard to get right. Three copies of your data. Two different media types. One copy offsite. We implement it so that no single failure can cost you everything.

  • Three copies of your data: production plus two independent backups
  • Two media types: local disk for fast recovery, plus encrypted cloud replication
  • One offsite: immutable copies in the DDSystems cloud, ransomware-resistant
  • Backup validation: we test restores routinely so they actually work when needed
Our approach

Recovery isn't reactive. It's planned

We don't just respond when things break. We build the resilience that prevents most disasters from impacting operations at all.

01

Risk Assessment

We map your environment, identify what's most critical to operations, and document the threats most likely to affect your business specifically.

02

Proactive Monitoring

Continuous backup verification and infrastructure monitoring catches issues before they escalate. Most "disasters" never happen because we caught the warning signs first.

03

Backup & Replication

Automated, scheduled backups stored on local disk and replicated to the cloud. Encrypted, immutable, and tested.

04

Recovery & Restoration

When something does happen, we execute the documented recovery plan. Fast restoration with clear communication and minimum downtime.

Measurable outcomes

Defined recovery objectives, documented up front

We don't promise vague "fast recovery." We commit to specific RTOs and RPOs based on your business needs, then design infrastructure to hit them.

RTO
Recovery Time Objective: how fast operations resume after an incident
RPO
Recovery Point Objective: how much data exposure is acceptable
SLA
Service Level Agreement: documented commitments, not aspirations
Frequently asked questions

Common questions about disaster recovery

What's the difference between backup and disaster recovery?
Backup is a copy of your data. Disaster recovery is the plan, infrastructure, and process to restore operations after something goes wrong. Backups are a critical component of disaster recovery, but disaster recovery is broader: it includes monitoring, documented procedures, failover infrastructure, and tested restoration. A backup that no one can restore from is just a file taking up space.
How fast can we recover from ransomware?
It depends on the scope. For a single workstation, often within hours. For an entire infrastructure encryption event, recovery typically takes 1-3 days using clean offsite backups. The biggest variable is whether your backups themselves are intact: our immutable offsite copies are specifically designed to survive ransomware attacks that target on-network backups.
What does the 3-2-1 rule mean?
Three copies of your data, on two different types of media, with one copy stored offsite. This widely-recommended methodology protects against the most common failure scenarios: a single drive failure (you have other copies), a site disaster (offsite copy survives), and ransomware (offsite immutable copy can't be encrypted by attackers on your network).
Do you test backups, or just create them?
We test them. A backup you've never restored from is a backup you can't trust. Our Backup Validation Services include routine test restores so we know your backups actually work before you need them, not after.
Can you help with cyber insurance disaster recovery requirements?
Yes. Most cyber insurance carriers now require documented disaster recovery programs with specific recovery objectives. We design DR programs that meet underwriting requirements, document the evidence insurers ask for, and pair with our Cyber Insurance Advisory service for end-to-end support.
Is this only for large businesses?
No. Disaster recovery scales. We've built programs for small offices with a single server and for organizations with multi-site infrastructure. The methodology is the same; the size and complexity adjusts to your environment and budget.
